EDIT: Redid most of it and updated its layout. The text on the previous one was way too small to read. >_< This one looks mucho better!
I also updated with a clipping mask option to make it easier for coloring! Grayscale tutorial on how I do mos of my artwork. It's a simple yet effective way to draw fur and pretty much anything! This is for Photoshop, but I'm sure skilled GIMP people could figure it out. The first part is a lot like ~kesame's shading tutorial, and I don't mean to copy, but this tut goes into more depth on how to color. Coloring is actually the last and fastest/easiest part. When doing these ten steps (once you get the hang of it), you can make a werewolf in about 2 hours. That's why I use this method the most. Anyways, hope this is useful to somebody, thanks!
