Its true. So many people get attacked here on dA and in the world in general for being conservative, and for sticking by their views. And while liberals stick by their views firmly, we can too, and it shouldn't be considered a self-rightous thing.
However, even by expressing just one tiny view on anything political or moral, and choose to stick by our decision, people automatically think we are self-righteous. Well, if you're going to have some sort of negative attitude towards anyone with a differing opinion, and refuse to try to understand or act civil with that person, doesn't that make YOU self-righteous?
Don't be a hypocrite, RESPECT OTHER PEOPLES VIEWS.
And for the sake of not being a hypocrite myself, I'll leave comments open, but if people start to debate or flame, I don't care, I'll turn them off... My advice to you is don't even start.
If you like the stamp, fav it, if you don't, treat it like any other deviation on this site and ignore it.
the 2 party system was built so we could see two sides to a problem. that is why my conservative mom discuses politics with my ex-liberal dad, so we can know that some things are a trainreck, not just think it, and vote accordingly to avoid it.
sadly not all think that way and that s why a family can no longer talk about politics.
Very true ^^ I'm neither liberal nor conservative but I do not think anyone should be bashed or hated on for being one or the other. I really don't get the stereotypes for conservatives that claim they all 'hate gays' or 'hate poor people' I know some conservatives that do support gay rights and poor people as well. To me it's just really wrong to generalize a whole group of people because of a few idiots out there.
Thank you so much for this stamp. I feel in the heavy minority on DA, so it's honestly refreshing to see there are fellow Conservatives here.
I think it's just considered "uncool" to be Conservative in this age, I'm afraid. And I feel like if I do say that I am a Conservative, to other people that automatically means I hate all gays, I'm a racist, and I hate poor people. I don't like being branded like that, because none of that is true.
It's also frustrating when people bash FOX for being biased. ALL media outlets are biased - including newspapers and magazines. So what if FOX leans right?
I don't call myself extreme, no... as in I don't go to tea parties and protest with a sign or get overly active on a political sites or forums. I'll vote, I'll stand by it, and share my views on things, and that's about it. Stamps are about as outspoken as I will be. Sure I have my beliefs, and I support the right, but I don't get into anyone's face about it. I just exercise my normal right to free speech and share what I think. However, I am stubborn and I won't change my views. But I still don't think that's self-righteous.
amen. enjoy this stamp becasue people claim to love each other, but yet they hate someone right away and missunderstand us. but if they want to hate then that is their fault. just keep doing the right thing and its whats best.
"Don't be a hypocrite, RESPECT OTHER PEOPLES VIEWS."
You do know that goes to both sides, don't you? This was literally taken from your artist's comments and yet this entire page of comments, with few exceptions, is being hypocritical. You can agree with something without bashing the alternative side. After all, you yourself said to "RESPECT OTHER PEOPLES VIEWS" which means that you yourself are being a hypocrite by accusing liberals of the same thing that irked you so much. If conservatives don't enjoy the slur on their name, why should liberals get it? Just because you don't agree with them?; "Don't be a hypocrite, RESPECT OTHER PEOPLES VIEWS."
It seems like debate isn't possible if both sides make predeterminations about the other. Debate is meant to educate each others opinions. And tossing around insults and accusations is just going to make compromise and debate much, MUCH more difficult.
You can be civil when you disagree with a person, but there is no reason to attack someone, that's mostly what I'm saying. And even though I have tons of liberal friends, we all get a long. That's what I mean by self-righteousness, is I don't thrust my political views on people. I share them, and if we disagree, then ok, it doesn't get into a huge brawl about it.
I'm just saying that half the time liberals sticking up for themselves is considered OK, but when a conservative does it, its self-righteous and bigotted. I've been in enough debates about politics to see this as a common occurrence. Course, this is just from my point of view, but this stamp serves the purpose of explaining how we feel, and obviously people who agree with the stamp have seen it too.
And yes, of COURSE the situational can be flipped around, but I'm focusing on my believes as a conservative. If some liberal or democrat wants to make a stamp saying the same thing but for their side, that is fine. lol
People can either agree or disagree with other people's views. We are free to express our own views. It can be accurate or non. If people are saying that I'm an idiot for expressing as such, it's not my problem. I said it, and people can agree or disagree. That's it. People can reason with the right info to persuade, but there's no need to get shut out by one party or the other, claiming they're right and I'm/you're an idiot.
The sad thing about this stamp is that it's making a perfectly valid point and yet in the comments people are going forth and being hypocritical by accusing liberals of the same thing they, as conservatives, were being accused of.
Debate is fine and dandy, but can we stick to the topic of conversation and understand that most of us should just agree to disagree? If people aren't open-minded to learning something about themselves whilst in debate than there's going to be no impact other than quarrel.
This isn't an anti-liberal stamp, how come most of the comments are turning into just that? :/
