Seriously.

:iconreadplz:

Sometimes, we artists who disable simply do not care what people have to say about our deviations. Maybe we don't want input or critique, maybe we don't want people to attack us (because avoiding drama is usually a mature thing to do), so who knows.

I personally am OK with discussing opposing opinions, but most people, especially on dA, don't have that in mind. They just want to say "You're wrong because of X, I'm right because of Y" and the argument goes on and on to something futile and utterly pointless. For me, I disable comments for that very reason.

Wanna know something really sad? I've actually been into arguments over this very subject: comments being disabled. People get very upset and passionate that they were stripped of their 'right' to express their opposing opinion. Well, too bad! LOL It's my page, my deviation. I can do whatever I want with it.

Yes, its the internet, and as we all know, if its up there, everybody can see it, and somebody can say something about it, but seriously guys, not everything HAS to have a counter/opposition/negative response to it. We all have the right to state our opinions loud and clear, and not listening to your opinion doesn't make me a coward or an intolerant bigot. Its just me trying to avoid the inevitable; pointless drama.

Yes, avoiding drama is usually the reason why they are disabled. Sorry, but I am proud to avoid the annoying people here on dA who like to spat out their hate, insults, and opinions with no real intent of holding a mature and civilized discussion or debate. Why should I have to deal with that type of BS on an ARTWORK site? No, I shouldn't. DEVIANTART IS NOT THE PLACE FOR DRAMA! If you want drama, go complain somewhere else. So for that reason, I see disabling comments as a legit reason to keep dA what its meant to be, an art site. Getting into petty fights is probably the last thing the site creators want.

Now, let me get one thing straight: Disabling comments does not mean we aren't tolerant to other people's opinions. Most of the time, sharing opinions is fine and dandy, and at least in the real world we won't have to deal with hardcore trolls who resort to name-calling and want to make you look bad. But on an internet website, and again, an ART site, I really don't care to get into deep debate or discussion.

Sadly, I get the feeling this stamp itself is going to be a hot spot for drama, since as stated above, there are a lot of people who really get passionate about not being able to state their opposing views. It's sad people get so worked up over disabled comments. I mean sure, I come across something that pisses me off, but I DO NOT try to pick a fight with them. And if their comments are disabled, I very rarely if ever comment on it anyways. Usually I treat deviations I don't like all the same way: move on with my life.

But whatever, I'll leave comments up, but like stated above, I have no shame whatsoever to uncheck that "Allow Comments" box. ;) So if you like the stamp, fav it, if not, sure, whine to me. Complain that its stupid, I don't care... but if things get out of hand, I will hide comments, and possibly, one day, disable them. YAY! :la:

I had a BAD feeling that I'm probably going to get "hate" comments whenever I post something... >~<
